Inspiration
Where do you find inspiration in your life? I have been thinking about this question a lot since I started this blog. Most of the posts have come naturally because I have had information and thoughts about Parkinson’s that I have wanted to share for quite some time. But there are many other inspirational sources that surround me daily.
I begin each day with looking out the window and seeing the beautiful trees and flowers that line our backyard. The crepe myrtles dot the landscape with colors of pink, white and purple. The knockout roses continue to bloom with shades of pinks and yellows. And the lilac-colored butterfly bushes are loaded with majestic butterflies. It is a panoramic scene that is a feast for the eyes. As I sit at the kitchen table enjoying my cup of tea, a hummingbird hovers at the feeder sipping the sugar water nectar. I am inspired.
Later, as I leave our neighborhood, I am struck by the beauty of the local marshlands and creeks. The water looks like glass with little waves of movement from the fish nibbling at the surface. In the grass, near the water’s edge is a blue heron watching over the marsh. What a beautiful creature. What a breathtaking scene. I am inspired.
Traveling along the local highway, I am greeted by beautiful puffy and whispy white clouds in the crystal blue sky. The clouds are everywhere and they move as I move. The enormity of the scene makes me feel small. “Wow,” I whisper to myself. I am inspired.
On my way home, I rescue a tiny box turtle from the middle of the road and place it safely on the side. And I take note of the array of God’s creatures, squirrels, deer and lots of birds. Each of these living things is amazing in its own way. I am inspired.
By the time I am back in my driveway, I have a heighten awareness of my surroundings. And I realize that inspiration abounds, if we just stop, look and listen.
