Eye of the Storm

Eye of the Storm

It has been a trying week as we have been preparing physically and mentally for the impending hurricane and now it has arrived. It is a very strange feeling knowing that a catastrophic event will happen within the next 24 hours. The visual signs are daunting. There are boards on our windows, deck furniture in the office and boxes and cans of food spread throughout the dining room. Some games and puzzles and books are stacked on the game table that I set up in the sunroom. They are meant to provide a distraction while Florence reaps havoc all around us.

There is a very long extension cord running from the generator on the front porch to the inside of the house. It powers the most basic necessities, the refrigerator, a lamp, and a small oscillating fan. I hope we will not need it for a long time, but I think that is wishful dreaming.

My leg tremors and pain are really bothering me today. I am not sure why they are acting up now unless it is the stress and anxiety I am feeling which is manifesting in my Parkinson’s symptoms. And I am very fatigued. So I will try to rest as much as I can today to get a good dopamine fix to face the eye of the storm.
