HAPPY AUTUMN

I have always loved autumn, but I have especially enjoyed it this year. The weather has been beautiful with warm breezy days and cool clear-sky nights and I have been watching the daily changes occurring right outside our windows. While my husband is recouping from surgery, we are confined to our home and yard. The slower pace we have has to maintain for his healing process actually helps us to stop and smell the roses, or more accurately, take note of the changing colors.

This past summer seemed especially hot and humid day after day. Usually my favorite season, I found the persistent heat oppressing and was more than ready to see the calendar page change to September and then to October. Ahhhhh….

So I have brought out the spice candles, the fall decorations, the pumpkins for the annual carving party and, yes, put a log in the fireplace. And I will savor these great days and weeks as we start and end the day with a jacket only to remove it in mid-day to soak up the rays of sunshine. As I walk our lab in the morning, we both will continue to enjoy walking through the leaves of different hues and watch the squirrel gather and store their stash for the winter.

Wow, how magnificent nature is and how blessed I am to be able to appreciate the gifts it provides all around us.

HAPPY AUTUMN!
