PARKINSON’S: THE PEAKS AND VALLEY. 2-1-2026

Wow, it has been such a long time since I posted on this blog. Thank you readers for your patience and understanding. Some of you have reached out to see how I am doing. I am happy to report that after a long span of turmoil, I am doing well. You see, my husband of 47 years has undergone chemo and immunotherapy for metastatic cancer for the past two years and I was his caretaker, coach and advocate during this health care journey. After several years of being my caretaker for Parkinson’s, it was my turn. Amazingly, my symptoms seemed less pronounced as I watch him suffer with the relentless side effects of his cancer meds. He literally dwindled away over months from not being able to eat or having energy to move from the bed to the sofa. I felt helpless and anxious. My saving grace was having two wonderful sons who went above and beyond to make both my husband and myself feel cared for and loved.

So amidst all this trauma, the signs of my Parkinson’s seem trivial and with the support of my sons, we somehow manage to get through two years of peaks and valleys.

The miraculous news is that the cancer is in remission and my husband has gained back so much of his life. Of course, there will always be the “what if it returns..”, but as with my Parkinson’s, we try to enjoy the moments we have now and not dwell on the what ifs!
