Change Things Up
I love to change things up in my wardrobe, my home decor and other parts of life. I get bored and want a change. Luckily for the most part, I can get satisfaction from simply buying a new outfit on sale in a style or color outside of my comfort zone and/or rearranging my furniture for a completely different look and function. Those little tweaks in my every day life mix things up just enough to keep things interesting.
I think humans are created to explore and change things up. Most people like to eat different things over the week instead of the exact meal three times a day. Also, It is rare that someone wears the same outfit day after day. And many of us like to decorate for the various holidays throughout the year. What is it that makes the human psyche like to mix things up?
I am sure you have heard about parts of the brain that function in different ways. The left side of the brain controls the right side of body and it is also responsible for performing jobs dealing with logic, such as math and science. The right side of the brain controls the left side of the body and relates to the artistry and creativity in humans. I was a biology major in college and my career in health care for over thirty years totally tapped the left side of my brain to the point of exhaustion! Perhaps this is why I am enjoying the arts and crafts phase of my life. My brain’s right side shouts out for artsy projects, fictional books and out-of-the box outfits. It is fun to explore this side of my being and though it does not come naturally to me, I am really learning to take a risk and change things up, just for the fun of it!
